Amy Law and Angelique Scaglione from Preferred Mutual will present on behalf of the insurance industry at the Women Helping Girls Make Choices Conference.

On Saturday, May 2, 2015, two Preferred Mutual employees will present on behalf of the insurance industry at the Women Helping Girls Make Choices Conference. The event will take place at the State University of New York at Oneonta, and will serve as an opportunity for fifth and sixth grade girls to meet and ask questions of mentors who are currently working in the field of their desired profession.

Amy Law, Financial Operations Manager at Preferred Mutual, will address the opportunities available for those looking to enter a career in Finance. Angelique Scaglione, Senior Actuarial Analyst at Preferred, will discuss the under-represented career of being an actuary. Both women will share their educational backgrounds and the career paths that led them to their current roles in the insurance industry.

Women Helping Girls Make Choices is a free program, available to fifth and sixth grade girls that attend school in the DCMO and ONC BOCES areas. The intent of the conference is to encourage young women to start thinking about their future careers and how it relates to their current educational studies, specifically those professions directly related to math and science academia. Martha Ryan, Public & School Liaison at DCMO BOCES, anticipates a student turnout of 150 participants.
